About The Rescue:
Rottweiler Rescue & Rehoming New Zealand is a breed specific rescue that has been a registered charity since August 2015.
Over the last two years Rottweiler Rescue & Rehoming have rehomed over 100 dogs.
Our aim is to rescue and rehome unwanted Rottweilers into their forever homes.
Rottweilers were known in German as Rottweiler Metzgerhund, meaning Rottweil butchers’ dogs, because one of their uses was to herd livestock and pull carts laden with butchered meat to market.
They are one of the oldest herding breeds with possible links back to the Roman Empire!
Rottweilers are now used as search and rescue dogs, as guide & therapy dogs, as guard dogs and police dogs.
Of course more often than not they are part of our families, our best friends, loyal devoted guardians and the best ever pets!
