Our Mission

Pet.kiwi was founded by a veterinarian, supported by a team of vet nurses and dedicated animal rescue volunteers. With years of hands-on experience across the veterinary and pet care sectors, we set out to do things differently. Our goal was simple: introduce better, more thoughtful products to the market while building a business that actively supports animals in need.
At the heart of Pet.kiwi is a commitment to giving back. Our vaccination programme helps animal rescue organisations across New Zealand access essential veterinary care. Over the past nine years, we’ve vaccinated more than 3,100 animals, saving rescue groups over $190,000 in veterinary costs. Alongside this, our Rescue Wishlist programme makes it easy for customers to directly support shelters with the items they need most.
We’ve chosen not to sell live animals in our Grey Lynn store. With so many pets already waiting for homes, we believe the focus should be on adoption, not supply. Instead, we host regular adoption events, partner with rescue groups, and actively promote rehoming to help animals find the families they deserve.
We’re also proud to be among New Zealand’s early adopters of the Living Wage, reflecting our belief that caring for animals goes hand in hand with looking after people. As a locally owned and growing business, we’re committed to creating a positive, ethical workplace for our team.
When you shop with Pet.kiwi, you’re not just buying for your pet. You’re supporting a business that reinvests in animal welfare and helps make a real difference for rescue animals across New Zealand.
